国際交流の取り組み（Activities）

We provide opportunities for former international student members who have returned to their home countries to present their research and introducing activities of forestry societies in Asian countries at annual meeting

Specifically, poster presentations will be made available on-demand during the annual meeting for former international student members who have returned to their home countries to follow up on their research after receiving their degrees, to provide them with opportunities to present at annual meeting, and to foster international collaborative research among the former international student members and with Japanese members. In addition, an online exchange meeting will be held in real-time format during the annual meeting, providing an opportunity for participants to communicate directly with each other and exchange opinions for future collaborations. At the same time, we also provide poster presentations introducing the activities of forestry societies from Asian countries and others.

These activities are going to be planned also at the 136^th Annual Meeting held in March 2023. Click here for more details.

国際交流の取り組みとして、森林学会での帰国した留学生元会員の学会発表機会の提供およびアジア各国の森林学会からの活動紹介を行なっています。

具体的には、帰国した留学生元会員を対象に、学位取得後の研究フォローアップ，学会発表実績の提供および帰国留学生元会員同士や日本人会員との国際共同研究の萌芽形成を目的に、ポスター発表を，学会期間中にオンデマンド形式で公開します。これに加え，リアルタイム形式でオンライン交流会を大会期間中に実施し，参加者同士が直接やりとりできる機会を提供し，今後の交流に向けた意見交換を行っています。 また、あわせてアジア各国ほかの林学会からの活動内容の紹介をポスター発表で行っています。

2025年3月に開催される年次大会でも、以下の通り、同様の取り組みを行います。

目的／Aim of this event

日本森林学会には、多数の留学生が学生会員として所属し、発表を行なっている。しかし、会費負担等の関係から、帰国後は本学会を退会し、関係が疎遠になる場合が多い。また、外国会員の割合も高くない。

本企画では、すでに本国に帰国した元留学生会員への学会参加・発表機会を提供するとともに、今後の交流に向けた意見交換を予定している。

参加者（帰国留学生会員）から事前に提出されたポスター発表を、学会の全日程、非同期（オンデマンド）形式で公開する。また、アジア各国の林学会（韓国、中国）からの参加者を含めて、対面とオンラインのハイブリッド形式で国際交流会を行い、森林学会における将来的な国際交流の在り方を議論する。現在日本の大学に所属している留学生会員や日本人会員にも、積極的に参加して頂きたい。

Many international students belong to the Forest Society of Japan as student members and give presentations in annual meetings. However, they often leave the Society after returning to their home countries, and the relationship between the two societies becomes distant. In addition, the percentage of foreign members of Forest Society of Japan is not high.

This project will provide former international student members who have already returned to their home countries with opportunities to participate and present posters at the conference, as well as to exchange opinions for future exchanges.

Poster presentations submitted in advance by participants will be made available in an on-demand format at the annual meeting. In addition, an international exchange meeting will be held in a hybrid face-to-face and online format, including participants from forestry societies in Asian countries (Korea and China), to discuss the future of international exchange in foreign members and forestry societies. International student members and Japanese members currently affiliated with Japanese universities are encouraged to participate.

To former international student members: Participation of former international student members will be free of charge. An asynchronous poster presentation session and a synchronous online meeting session will be combined. The online meeting is tentatively scheduled from 17:00-19:00 on 21 March 2025 in Japan time (GMT+9); details will be informed nearer the time. Poster presentations will be open during the whole dates of the 136th conference of JFS.

Participants will be required to prepare a poster presentation by the beginning of March. Due to applying an online style, just a general A4 size JPEG file will work. Poster contents may include current research topics, potential fields of collaboration, working involved or any other current situations if participants have been outside the academia, etc. In the online meeting session, participants will briefly introduce the poster contents and frankly talk or exchange information.
