Welcome to Japanese Forest Society

The Japanese Forest Society, founded in 1914, is one of the Japan’s largest academic societies that aim to advance forest science through support of its research and communication. There are now approximately 2,700 members in our society. Membership in our society is open to anyone who is interested in forest science.

Membership Category / Annual Fees

Personal memberships can access all the JFS journals online (listed below). Persnoal members can give presentations at annual academic meetings.

• Journal of Forest Research
  – Printed journal published bimonthly. In English.
• Journal of the Japanese Forest Society
  – Electronic journal published monthly (open access). In Japanese with English abstract.
• Forest Science (Shinrin Kagaku)
  – Printed journal published 3 times a year. In Japanese.

Membership and annual fee

• Type A – Regular: JPY 10,000, Student: JPY 5,000
  • This includes a subscription to printed issues of Forest Science (Shinrin Kagaku).
• Type B – Regular: JPY 12,000, Student: JPY 7,000
  • This includes subscriptions to printed issues of Forest Science (Shinrin Kagaku) and J For Res.
• Institution: JPY 18,000
  • This membership includes subscriptions to printed issues of Forest Science (Shinrin Kagaku), J For Res and J Jpn For Soc.

* Until Februrary 2023, printed issues of J Jpn For Soc are distributed to members of Type A/B instaed of Forest Science (Shinrin Kagaku)

** A member of Type A/B can choose no distribution of Forest Science (Shinrin kagaku) (or J Jpn For Soc), but no discount of annual fee.

*** Sea mail costs are included in the annual fee. If an oversea member would like to get the journal as soon as possible, air mail service is available with an extra charge of 500 JPY per issue.
