要旨本文 | This study examined the effects of planting density on net ecosystem production (NEP) in 7-year-old plantations of larch (Larix kaempferi) in Korea. The plantations were treated with three different planting densities: LD (2,000 trees ha-1), MD (2,500 trees ha-1), and HD (3,000 trees ha-1). Soil respiration, soil temperature, soil water content, and sapling growth were measured monthly. In HD, net primary production (NPP) was the highest among treatments at 0.90 t C ha-1 y-1, whereas NEP was the lowest at -4.08 t C ha-1 y-1. NEP in LD and MD were -2.95 and -2.36 t C ha-1 y-1, respectively. We found that, in high planting density treatments, increased litterfall may stimulate soil heterotrophic respiration, leading to a decrease in NEP. This study offers important guidance for determining optimal planting densities to enhance carbon uptake in early-stage larch plantations. |
