Exploring the topographical features of the mountain landscape and developing plans for recreational opportunity along Mt. Yong Yap Trail

The Lojing highland is celebrated for its remarkable biodiversity, establishing it as a rapidly emerging tourist destination. The tropical forest ecosystem in this region provides excellent opportunities for mountain trekking along the Titiwangsa Range, which features prominent peaks such as Mount Yong Yap, Mount Yong Belar, Mount Tok Nenek, Mount Bubu, and many other stunning mountains. However, conservation efforts for these mountain trails encounter challenges in balancing environmental preservation with the development of ecotourism.This study seeks to evaluate the topographical characteristics of the mountain trail along Mount Yong Yap. The LS-factor and TW Index were calculated using Digital Terrain Models (DTM), and potential sensitive areas were identified utilizing SAGA-GIS software. The information gathered is crucial for recreational resource planning and can serve as a valuable guideline for forest management aimed at sustaining the conservation status of the trail. |
