要旨本文 | Seedling dynamics are crucial for forest regeneration to maintain population and diversity. We monitored seedling recruitment and mortality for 7 years in a seasonally dry tropical forest (SDTF) to understand the impact of El Niño-induced drought. The results showed that the El Niño droughts caused significant seedling mortality, particularly among evergreen species in the lower montane forest. However, in the deciduous dipterocarp forest, increased recruitment of deciduous oak offset drought-induced mortality. These findings suggest that future drought regimes may differentially impact seedling survival and recruitment across forest types and species, potentially altering the composition and spatial distribution of Asian SDTFs. |
