要旨本文 Bamboo forests are considered strong carbon sinks due to their rapid growth and extensive belowground biomass, but management practices may affect carbon cycling. This study examined seasonal and interannual variations in soil respiration (Rs) and its components in unmanaged Moso (Phyllostachys pubescens) and Madake (P. bambusoides) bamboo forests in Japan. Rs was measured monthly over two years (April 2022–March 2024) using infrared gas analysis, with treatments for total, no litter, and no root respiration. From 2022 to 2023, soil moisture increased (P = 0.038), while temperature decreased (P = 0.017), with no interannual differences in Rs. Moso showed higher Rs than Madake (Total Rs, P = 0.023; No litter, P = 0.019) and greater variability. Rs was more sensitive to temperature than moisture. Future research will focus on net ecosystem production and comparisons between unmanaged and managed Moso bamboo forests.
