要旨本文 | Temperature plays a primary role affecting the rate of a tree's secondary growth at the beginning, middle, and end of the growing season. A stem heating experiment (2022–2023) was conducted on Cryptomeria japonica in Miyazaki Experimental Forest, Kyushu, Japan, using sixteen trees from four cultivars (Yaichi, Kumotoshi, Yabukuguri, and Measa) representing three growth types. Heated and control individuals were analyzed for anatomical traits such as cell area (A), diameter (D), and wall thickness (T) using HALO software and ANOVA. Growth rates and intra-annual density fluctuations (IADFs) were assessed using dendrometers and tracheidograms.Results show Yaichi (a fast-growing cultivar) exhibited greater sensitivity to heating, indicating a growth pattern which suggests extended and near-continuous cambial activity. These findings provide insights for selecting climate-resilient cultivars to sustain forests in a warming future. |
