要旨本文 | This study investigated belowground carbon dynamics in temperate forests in Korea using a chronosequence approach to assess recovery after fire. Two unburned sites and ten restored Pinus densiflora plantations, spanning 2 to 28 years post-fire, were studied. Soil properties, litter and root biomass were analyzed. Seasonal soil respiration (Rs) was measured in the field, while microbial (Rh) and root respiration (Ra) were assessed separately through incubation experiments. Rs significantly increased with soil recovery (R=0.51, p<0.01). Incubation experiments revealed that Rh was positively correlated with total carbon (R=0.85, p<0.01), while Ra was strongly associated with total nitrogen (R=0.96, p<0.001). These findings highlight the critical role of microbial and vegetation recovery in shaping belowground carbon dynamics during the post-fire succession of temperate forests. |
