The Impact of Forest Types and Topographic Variations on Snow Accumulation: Insights from UAV-LiDAR

要旨本文 This study explores the application of UAV-LiDAR in analyzing snow accumulation in the University of Tokyo Hokkaido Forest, with a focus on the effects of forest type and slope. Using the Difference of DEMs (DoD) method (RMSE 0.16 m), high-resolution snow depth maps revealed that canopy structure and slope significantly influence snow distribution. Dense canopies intercept more snow, while lower slopes retain greater accumulation. These findings highlight UAV-LiDAR as a reliable tool for forest snow surveys and ecological research.
