要旨本文 | We developed a calibration equation for TDM using azimuthal measurements. Three sample stems of 38 to 42-year-old Japanese cypress (Chamaecyparis obtusa) were selected from the Akatsu Research Forest at the University of Tokyo. The tree heights ranged from 16.3 to 18.6 meters with DBH ranged from 18.5 to 21.5 cm. We applied negative pressures ranging from 450 to 750 Pa and measured sap flow velocity using 2 cm probes from four directions. A new pair of coefficients using only the south probe was α = 0.028 and β = 0.988, with an R2 of 93.7%. The mean coefficients using four probes were α = 0.029 (SD: 2.63) and β = 1.065 (SD: 2.98). Differences of coefficients at four direction possibly associated with leaf-branch connections around the trunk. The estimated mean transpiration using the new coefficients was 11.2 L/day, while the estimated mean transpiration using the old coefficients was 4.5 L/day (SD: 0.75). |
